Beverly was diagnosed with a stroke shortly after they came back from a trip. She had headaches during the trip, but a doctor managed the condition until they got back home, where she was diagnosed with a stroke. This book takes on the journey of Beverly, how she managed this condition through rehab, and her life as a stroke patient.
It was lovely to see how caring Robert was for his wife. As he mentioned in this book, not many partners will stay around and even be caregivers when their partners are in conditions like this. He showcased a pure form of love, and I think that was the highlight of this book for me. This book is also educational, and it will educate readers on how living with stroke is. This book was not one-sided with its information, as the author informed readers that some of the information may differ among different people. I also loved the resilience of Beverly and how she did not allow her condition to stop her from achieving her goals.
There was nothing to dislike about this book. The characters at the beginning were properly introduced and did not cause any confusion. The inclusion of pictures also helped me understand the things talked about in this book. For instance, I had no clue what a trike looked like before this book, but with the picture, I knew what it looked like. There are a lot of things to learn from this book.
I rate Strike Survival – Against All Odds by Robert Castleberry 5 out of 5 stars because there was a lot to learn from it and it was quite interesting to read. There were a few errors in this book, but they did not distract from the overall enjoyment of this book. This book will be enjoyed by lovers of health-related memoirs. This book may also be best suited for mostly Christians, as the author gives glory to Jesus Christ for helping him and his wife throughout the journey and asks the readers to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
